Some policies and programs are better than others. We rigorously evaluate effects on crime and recidivism, to help communities make the best use of their public safety dollars.
Employing new data
New technologies, from gunshot sensors to online reporting platforms, create better data on criminal behavior than previously existed. We creatively utilize these new data to answer questions that old data could not.
Reducing bias
Making our criminal justice system more fair will also make it more effective. We examine which interventions work best to reduce racial disparities in the criminal justice system.
